Service, Commitment and Excellence were the principles behind the
formation of Sully Cooperative (SCE) in 1920. That motto continues to drive our business today. We strive to enhance member/customer value through high quality service, meeting customer needs and excellence in everything we do. Our focus is to provide “Next Generation Thinking” through state-of-the-art information, products and technology supported by the best employees in the business.
Headquartered in Sully, Iowa, SCE serves nearly 5,000 customers throughout our multi county trade territory in South Central Iowa. SCE provides services through facilities located the communities of: Sully, Newton, Grinnell, New Sharon, Barnes City, Taintor, Montezuma, Gibson and Bondurant.
Summary SCE history and timeline: • 1920 - Sully Cooperative Exchange formed • 1941 - Bulk refined fuel plant built • 1946 - Sully Cooperative builds Service Station • 1949 – Company opens lumber yard • 1955 - Wood cribbed elevator in Sully constructed • 1955 - Feed mill in Sully constructed • 1963 - First bulk fertilizer mixing plant built • 1972 - Sully concrete elevator workhouse constructed • 1980 - Fire destroys Sully office and station • 1984 – Acquired Newton site • 1998 – Acquired Grinnell elevator • 1999 – Merged with Taintor Cooperative Company adding locations at Taintor, New Sharon, Barnes City and propane sites at Gibson, Montezuma and Grinnell • 2003 – Constructed first “new generation” condominium grain storage project • 2005 – Acquired Grinnell feed mill • 2007 – Acquired Bondurant propane operations
